Elderly and specially-abled voters cast their votes from home in Siliguri

Siliguri, 13th April: Elderly and specially-abled voters in Siliguri exercised their franchise from the comfort of their homes for the 2026 Assembly elections. The initiative ensured inclusive participation in the democratic process.

Under the supervision of the Election Commission, polling officials visited the residences of senior citizens with ballot papers and sealed ballot boxes, enabling them to cast their votes without visiting polling booths.

The voting process was conducted under the vigilant presence of central security forces to ensure transparency and security.

To make the electoral process more accessible, the Election Commission introduced the special facility for citizens aged 85 years and above, as well as for specially-abled individuals. This provision aims to assist those unable to stand in queues or travel to polling stations.

The initiative seeks to uphold democratic rights by ensuring that every eligible voter can participate in the electoral process with dignity and ease.
