Transport Associations to demand fare hike at Darjeeling More tomorrow

Siliguri, 15th December: The COVID-19 pandemic has left a huge impact on the tourism industry. As a result, the people associated with this industry are facing a financial crisis. In such a situation, paying the vehicle’s EMI and tax has become an additional pressure for them. Besides, the hike in the prices of petrol and diesel adds more to their concern.

In view of this, the transport associations are demanding the vehicle fares to be increased to help them cope up with the losses.

As the Chief Minister is currently in North Bengal, they are trying to hold discussions with her on these issues. The transport associations are likely to conduct a programme at Darjeeling More on Wednesday to present their demands. They claimed to conduct the programme peacefully holding placards in their hands.
