Kharibari, 27th January: Miscreants attacked a transformer installed for irrigation in the Pataram Jote agricultural fields of Kharibari under the cover of night. The irrigation system, which operates on electricity over 10 acres of farmland, was disrupted after the transformer installed by the electricity department was vandalized. Multiple items were reportedly stolen, bringing irrigation to a complete halt.
Local farmer Nirmal Barman said irrigation was carried out on Monday evening, and the damage was discovered the following morning.
Upon receiving the news, Kharibari police and electricity distribution staff rushed to the site. Due to the stolen items, it will take time to restore the service.
Kharibari Station Manager Biswajit Dutta stated that similar incidents have occurred in the past.
