Phansidewa, 04th February: Two persons were killed in a tragic road accident on the Siliguri–Phansidewa road at Rangapani’s Tetultala area on Wednesday.
According to police sources, a young man and a young woman were travelling on a motorcycle from Phansidewa towards North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). On reaching the Tetultala area, the bike collided head-on with a goods-laden truck, resulting in the instant death of both the rider and the pillion passenger at the spot.
On receiving information, police from Rangapani Outpost and Phansidewa police station rushed to the spot. Local residents stopped the truck at the scene. The bodies were recovered and sent to NBMCH for post-mortem examination.
Police have started an investigation into the incident.
