Siliguri, 28th January: As part of the ongoing Road Safety Week across the state, the traffic department has been conducting special checking operations on Siliguri’s Eastern Bypass. In a unique initiative, traffic police personnel have been seen handing out roses in some areas during the operations.
On Tuesday, traffic police carried out special checks in various locations along the Eastern Bypass. A particularly notable scene was witnessed at VIP More, where traffic police stopped bike riders without helmets and offered them roses instead of issuing challans. Additionally, roses were given to individuals not wearing seat belts, and some riders without helmets were provided with helmets.
According to police sources, this initiative is part of efforts to raise awareness and reduce accidents on the roads.
