Rajganj, 02nd October: The traditional ‘Banyan Tree Marriage’ ceremony was grandly organized in Rajganj on the occassion of Mahalaya.
Like every year, local resident Manik Roy took the initiative to host the event at Mahendranath Roy Cremation Ghat in Demdema, located in Rajganj Block’s Majhiali Gram Panchayat.
The ceremony, held during ‘amavasya,’ included various wedding rituals, celebrating the symbolic union of two banyan trees on the cremation ground. People from all religions were invited to participate.
A special ‘khichdi prasad’ was prepared and distributed to all attendees. Additionally, in view of the Durga Puja, new clothes and 101 mosquito nets were distributed.
