Siliguri, 11th January: After a gap of five years, the Toy Train Jungle Safari has resumed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Model, bringing cheer to the tourism sector. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) has relaunched the special service, aiming to boost tourist footfall in the region.
According to officials, the jungle safari will operate on Saturdays and Sundays. The safari journey will run from Siliguri Junction to Gayabari, offering tourists a unique experience aboard the heritage Toy Train.
Along the route, passengers will be able to enjoy scenic views of tea gardens, the natural beauty of the hills, and glimpses of local culture.
DHR Director Rishav Choudhary said that during the current tourist season, plans are in place to introduce several more safari services in addition to the jungle safari to further enhance tourist attraction.
Private partner Sanjay Goswami said that arrangements have been made to provide breakfast to tourists at the start of the journey. Upon reaching Gayabari, a special picnic will also be organised for passengers.
He added that on the return journey, tourists will be treated to Darjeeling’s popular delicacy, momos.
