Siliguri, 25th November: An unusual incident of toto theft has come to light from the Sarat Chandra Pally area under Ward No. 40 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC), where a toto driver has been absconding with a rented toto. Following the incident, the toto owner approached the police station.
According to reports, Bishwanath Barman, a resident of the Sarat Chandra Pally area under Ward No. 40 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, is suffering from cancer. Due to his illness, Bishwanath gave up driving his toto.
On November 17, an individual named Mohammad Salman, unknown to Bishwanath, came to his residence and offered to drive his toto on rent of Rs 400 per day. Subsequently, Bishwanath trusted Mohammad after checking his Aadhar card and gave him his toto on rent.
Later at night, as the person did not return with the toto after 10 pm, Bishwanath Barman contacted the toto driver over the phone, however, he did not respond. On November 19, Bishwanath Barman filed a written complaint of toto theft at the Bhakti Nagar police station. Currently, the Bhakti Nagar police station is engaged in a detailed investigation of the entire matter.
