Siliguri, 20th February: The Darjeeling district unit of the Trinamool Youth Congress (TMYC) has lodged a complaint at Siliguri Police Station alleging deliberate vandalism of state government promotional posters. According to the youth wing, posters across the city are being torn, particularly those featuring Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Mayor Gautam Deb.
Party leaders noted that similar incidents occurred during the 2021 Assembly elections, when opposition parties were accused of damaging Trinamool banners and flags. They allege that with elections approaching this year, posters are once again being targeted in the same manner.
The TMYC has urged the police to take strict action against those responsible. Siliguri Police have confirmed that a detailed investigation is underway to identify and penalize the culprits.
