Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee took oath as the chief minister of West Bengal for the third consecutive term on Wednesday. She administered the oath in Bengali language by Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar at the Raj Bhavan.
Banerjee said that her priority is to tackle COVID-19 outbreak and also urged all to maintain peace, after reports of violence surfaced across the state soon after the announcement of the assembly election results.
Speaking on the same issue, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar said, “Our priority is that we must bring an end to this senseless violence that has affected society at large. I have every hope that the CM on an urgent basis will take all steps to restore rule of law.”
The ceremony was low-key due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
