Siliguri, 15th August: The 74th Independence Day of India was celebrated in Siliguri on behalf of Trinamool Congress at midnight. Reportedly, the national flag, as well as the party flag, was hoisted around 12 am at Siliguri Kanchenjunga Stadium by the Darjeeling District Trinamool Congress Committee. State Tourism Minister Goutam Deb, TMC Darjeeling District President Ranjan Sarkar, and other party leaders were present during the programme.
On the occasion of Independence Day, various programmes were organized on behalf of TMC since last evening. Minister Goutam Deb hoisted the national flag and concluded the programme by singing two patriotic songs.
