Phansidewa, 18th March: TMC candidate Rina Toppo Ekka has launched her election campaign in full swing in Phansidewa, reaching out to voters across the constituency.
On Wednesday, she campaigned at the Thanjhora Tea Garden in Kharibari, where she interacted with tea workers, seeking their support with folded hands and greetings.
She was accompanied by Darjeeling district TMC chairman, INTTUC district president and the Phansidewa Assembly coordinator.
During the campaign, Ekka appealed to tea garden workers to vote in favour of the party.
In a significant development, around 150 CPI(M) supporters joined the Trinamool Congress on the same day.
Speaking on the occasion, Ekka alleged that the BJP MLA has done no work in the area, while the development initiatives of the Chief Minister have reached every household. She expressed confidence of winning the seat by a huge margin and dedicating it to the Chief Minister.
