Cooch Behar, 11th July: Cooch Behar once again found itself in the spotlight during the counting of votes for the Panchayat elections in the state. Allegations have emerged against a candidate from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for tampering with the ballot box at the counting center located at Maharaja Nripendra Narayan High School, under Cooch Behar Block-1.
According to reports, while the votes from booth no. 4/41 of Cooch Behar Dakshin Vidhan Sabha were being counted, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) initially had the lead. However, a TMC female candidate named Rinku Roy Rajbhar, arrived at the counting center and allegedly sprinkled water and ink on the ballot box. This incident caused a tense situation in the area. Consequently, Central forces and the police were deployed to restore control and order.
