Fulbari, 21st June: A three-vehicle collision occurred on Friday in the Jiaganj area near Fulbari on the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway, resulting in two injuries. The incident briefly halted traffic in the area.
According to reports, a fish-laden lorry traveling from Fulbari to Jalpaiguri encountered a passenger bus coming from the opposite direction. In an attempt to avoid the bus, the lorry collided with a small four-wheeler in front of it, which then hit another vehicle ahead. The rear of the fish-laden lorry also collided, causing significant damage to its front part. Consequently, the driver and assistant driver of the lorry sustained injuries.
Local residents assisted in rescuing the injured and transporting them to a private hospital in Fulbari. Police from Fulbari Highway Traffic Outpost and New Jalpaiguri police station arrived on the scene to recover the vehicles and investigate the incident.
The four-wheeler driver, who was transporting a doctor from Siliguri to a nursing home near Jotiakali, reported narrowly escaping the collision. He mentioned moving his car to the side of the road to avoid the traffic jam, only to be struck by the lorry, which then collided with another lorry in front.
