Jalpaiguri, 03rd October: A tragic accident on Vijaya Dashami night claimed the lives of three people and left seven others injured in Dhupguri under Jalpaiguri district.
Reportedly, the incident occurred late Thursday night near the Bridge No. 2 area when a speeding vehicle from Jalpaiguri lost control and rammed into a roadside shop. Two people died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital.
The deceased were identified as Santosh Roy, Sumit Kumar Biswas, and Doksa Roy. Among them, Santosh and Doksa were decorators by profession. Out of the seven injured, three were shifted to Jalpaiguri Super Specialty Hospital, while the rest were discharged after primary treatment.
Following the accident, Dhupguri SDPO Gyalsen Lepcha, IC, and a large police force reached the site. Eyewitnesses stated that the vehicle, moving at high speed, jumped a speed breaker before crashing into the shop. Police have seized the vehicle and initiated further investigation.
