Three, including two women, arrested with 28 kg cannabis at Siliguri’s NBSTC bus stand

Siliguri, 11th May: In a significant breakthrough, a joint team comprising the Special Operations Group (SOG) and Pradhan Nagar police station successfully apprehended two women and a man involved in drug trafficking. The arrest led to the seizure of approximately 28 kilograms of cannabis, with an estimated market value of several lakhs of rupees. The male suspect has been identified as Bubai Ghosh, hailing from Tikiapara in Siliguri, while the female culprits are Leela Chowdhary and Sandhya Saha, residents of Old Matigara Road, Ward No. 01 of Siliguri.


According to sources, the accused individuals had devised a plan to smuggle the cannabis by concealing two bags within the Siliguri NBSTC bus stand. Acting swiftly upon receiving this information, the joint operation between the SOG and Pradhan Nagar police was initiated. The three suspects were subjected to a thorough search, resulting in the discovery of two bags containing the illicit substance. 

Law enforcement sources have identified Bubai Ghosh as the mastermind behind the drug trafficking operation. Additionally, it has come to light that Bubai had been previously arrested on similar charges approximately four years ago. Authorities had maintained surveillance on Leela Chowdhary and Sandhya Saha for an extended period. Tomorrow, all three individuals will be presented before the Siliguri Court, while the investigation into the matter remains ongoing.
