Siliguri, 08th September: A few months ago, numerous allegations surfaced against a pencil manufacturing company of duping people in Siliguri and surrounding areas. The victims had also lodged a complaint against the said company at the Panitanki Town Out Post.
After almost two months of thorough investigation, the police arrested three employees of the said company last night. The arrested accused include a woman and two men. They have been identified as Mayuri Ghosh (26) of Ward No. 44 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, Tapas Karmakar (24) of Uttar Dinajpur (but was currently living in Matigara police station area) and Bhaskar Roy (25) of Malda who was now living in a rented house in Pradhan Nagar police station area.
It is to be noted, earlier in July, a company under the name of Hindustan Udhyog Corporation Limited was claiming to provide employment to people in Siliguri with the flexibility of working from home. As per the complainants, the company took 80 thousand rupees from them and in return, they were given a machine and pencil-making materials.
The workers of the company told them that they would receive a commission as per the number of pencils they could manufacture. It is alleged that the work went well for a couple of months, but later, the company took a huge quantity of pencils from them and took off without paying them a single penny. No solution was received even after contacting the company management. Hence, the victims lodged a complaint at the Panitanki Town Out Post.
The trio was arrested yesterday based on the complaints. They were produced in the Siliguri court today. After hearing the entire case, the judge directed to keep the three accused on police remand for two days for further questioning.
