Bagdogra, 06th November: A significant breakthrough was achieved by the Special Operations Group (SOG) and Bagdogra police as three individuals were arrested with two pistols and 30 rounds of ammunition. The arrested suspects have been identified as Pulak Roy (25), Soumitra Pal (42), and Pritam Sarkar (34), all residents of Balurghat.
According to sources, the three men traveled from Balurghat to Bagdogra by bus, carrying firearms and ammunition. Acting on a tip-off, the SOG and Bagdogra police intercepted the suspects at Bhuttabari on the national highway connecting Siliguri to Kolkata. Upon searching the trio based on suspicion, the officials retrieved two 7mm pistols, 30 rounds of ammunition, and five cellphones from their possession.
The police suspect that the firearms were brought to the area for potential criminal activities following the Diwali celebrations. The arrested individuals are set to be presented before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Bagdogra police are probing the involvement of others in this illegal arms trafficking case.
