Siliguri, 23rd February: A major robbery attempt was foiled by NJP police during a late-night operation in the NJP police station area, leading to the arrest of three persons.
The arrested individuals have been identified as MD Shakil, Suman Sarkar and Pawan Kumar Singh, all residents of different parts of Siliguri.
According to sources, police received a tip-off around 1:30 am on Monday that a group of 10–12 miscreants had assembled in the Kashmir Colony area with plans to commit a robbery. Acting swiftly on the information, police reached the spot and managed to apprehend three persons, while the others fled.
Sharp weapons were recovered from the possession of the arrested individuals.
The accused were produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Monday. Police have launched a search operation to trace the absconding miscreants.
