Bagdogra, 28th November: A shocking incident of theft has surfaced from the Hathkhola Kali Mandir of Bagdogra where miscreants made off with gold and silver ornaments from the temple. The incident caused a widespread sensation in the area.
According to reports, on Monday evening, the temple priest locked the gate and left after prayers. However, when the locals arrived at the temple on Tuesday morning to worship, they noticed that the lock on the main gate of the temple was broken and the gold and silver ornaments on the idol of goddess Kali were missing. Subsequently, the matter was informed to the police. Upon receiving the news, Bagdogra police promptly arrived at the spot and initiated an investigation.
Locals complained that the area in Bagdogra has become the hotspot of violence by drug addicts thus prompting frequent instances of theft and robbery in the area. In this regard, temple committee member Sanjiv Sinha stated that similar incidents of theft have previously occurred in the temple. As a result, he urged for a detailed police investigation into the matter and the immediate arrest of the accused culprits.
