Siliguri, 05th February: Police arrested a bike thief and recovered a stolen motorcycle nearly four months after it was reported missing from Matigara Haat in Siliguri, officials said.
According to police sources, the motorcycle belonging to Mithun Roy, a resident of Palpara, was stolen from Matigara Haat in October 2025. Following the incident, a complaint was lodged at Matigara police station, after which an investigation was initiated.
Acting on a tip-off received on Wednesday, Matigara police conducted a search operation in the Lalugach area of Chopra with assistance from Chopra police station. During the raid, the stolen motorcycle was recovered from the accused’s residence.
The accused was arrested on the spot and the recovered motorcycle was seized. The arrested person was produced before the Siliguri court on Thursday.
Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain whether more individuals are involved in the bike theft racket operating in the area.
