Temporary workers of NBMCH stage protest over deprivation of salary

Siliguri, 15th July: The temporary workers of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital staged a protest at the hospital premises alleging of being deprived of salary for the past three months.

Group D workers of NBMCH are temporarily recruited through tenders. Around 150 workers are working in this process. The workers complained that they have not been paid for the last three months. Although they reported the matter to the hospital superintendent several times, no required steps have been taken so far. Hence, they protested in front of the hospital’s ticket counter and outpatient department on Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, due to the protest, patient services were discontinued. Later, the medical outpost police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

On the other hand, Superintendent Sanjay Mallick said, “These employees are paid by the company through which they have been recruited. As a result, we have nothing to do in this matter.”
