Jalpaiguri, 17th February: Several teachers were injured in a road accident while travelling for the Higher Secondary examination duty in Jalpaiguri on Tuesday morning. The incident took place on National Highway 31 at Balapara.
According to reports, the teachers were on their way from Jalpaiguri to Maynaguri in a Magic van when a four-wheeler allegedly rammed into the vehicle from behind. The impact left multiple teachers injured.
Following the accident, tension prevailed in the area as an agitated crowd allegedly vandalised the four-wheeler involved in the collision.
The injured were rescued and taken to a hospital for treatment. Police reached the spot after receiving information and have initiated an investigation into the incident.
