Rajganj, 09th October: A truck loaded with tea leaves that was dispatched from Balaram in Rajganj to Punjab went missing before reaching its destination. After an investigation spanning several states, Bhorer Alo Police arrested the truck driver and his associate in Bihar and recovered around 200 kg of tea leaves.
According to police sources, the truck carrying the consignment left Balaram in Rajganj for Punjab on September 3. However, the consignment never reached its intended destination. A complaint was subsequently lodged at Bhorer Alo Police Station on September 11, following which police launched an investigation.
During the investigation, police conducted searches across several states, including Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Bihar. The operation eventually led to the arrest of Basuki Kumar Mandal and Lalit Kumar Mandal in Bihar on October 3.
Basuki Kumar Mandal is a resident of Bihar, while Lalit Kumar Mandal hails from Uttar Pradesh. After producing the accused before the court and taking them into police custody, investigators recovered the missing tea leaves from the Araria area of Bihar.
Police recovered approximately 200 kg of tea leaves packed in 39 packets from the accused.
Bhorer Alo Police are continuing their investigation to determine how the tea consignment went missing while in transit and whether others were involved in the case.
