Siliguri, 09th October: Minister Dipak Barman has hinted at a possible name change for Biswa Bangla Shilpi Haat in Kawakhali, which was established during the Trinamool Congress government. However, he said reopening the facility is more important at present than changing its name.
On Friday, Barman visited Biswa Bangla Shilpi Haat in Kawakhali along with officials from various departments. During the visit, he reviewed the current condition of the facility and took stock of its infrastructure and overall situation.
Following the inspection, the minister said plans were underway to renovate and improve the Shilpi Haat so that artists could use the facility to promote and showcase their artwork.
He further stated that Biswa Bangla no longer existed and, therefore, the name had no relevance. However, he emphasised that making the Shilpi Haat operational again was the priority, rather than focusing on a name change.
