Subhojit Modak murder case: Prime accused attacked during court production in Siliguri

Siliguri, 11th February: The prime accused in the Subhojit Modak murder case was allegedly attacked inside the Siliguri court premises on Wednesday while being produced before the court. The accused, Kajal Paswan alias Raja, was brought by Matigara police in connection with the murder of student Subhojit Modak, reportedly linked to a love triangle.


While being taken for production before the judge, family members of the deceased allegedly attempted to assault the accused. Police personnel deployed at the court intervened promptly and rescued him from the crowd, escorting him safely.

Following the incident, additional security was deployed in the court premises on the instructions of the Siliguri police station IC. RAF and women police personnel were stationed to control the situation.


Tension prevailed in the court complex for some time as the victim’s family members staged a protest demanding capital punishment for the accused. Police later intervened and escorted them out of the premises.

Under tight security, the accused was produced before the judge. The court remanded him to five days of police custody. Police stated that a detailed investigation into the case is underway.
