Students with special needs don’t let disabilities come in way; arrive at Fatapukur Saradamoni HS to appear for Madhyamik exam

Rajganj, 07th March: For the first time in two years, offline Madhyamik or Class 10 final examinations commenced from today. The exams for the 2021 batch had to be cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The students and several parents expressed happiness over the examination being held through the offline mode. They reached the respective centres with admit cards in hand to take the secondary examination.

Likewise, not letting their disabilities come in the way and setting an example for other children with special needs, five students of Rajganj’s Howrah South Point Handicapped Children Home arrived at the examination centre at Fatapukur Saradamoni Vidyalaya (H.S) to appear for their secondary examination.

Malauni Rautia, Deepa Tigga, Ramisha Khatoon, Sanjana Khatoon and Jaya Roy accompanied by Children Welfare Officer Dalia Dhara of Bakhoabari Center, Jalpaiguri Branch of Howrah South Point Handicapped Children’s Home reached the examination centre on Monday morning. The five girls are students of Harihar High School in Rajganj. Out of them, Malauni is appearing for the exam with the help of a writer. Ankita Munda, a class IX student of the same school, is helping her as a writer.

Children Welfare Officer Dalia Dhara said the five students belong to poor families, mainly from tea gardens and remote areas. The members of the family run their household by working as labourers and daily wage workers in the tea garden. She further maintained that the physical disabilities of the students have improved to a great extent due to the surgery and continuous treatment provided to them on behalf of the Home. “They are very happy and excited to take their exams today,” she further added.
