Siliguri, 11th February: Students staged a protest at the Siliguri court premises on Wednesday against a private institute in Salbari, accused of suddenly converting itself into a vocational centre.
The protesting students claimed that there had been long-standing doubts regarding the institute’s recognition and validity. They alleged that the institute abruptly changed its name and announced itself as a vocational centre, raising concerns about the future of enrolled students.
Lawyer Bandana Rai said that several such fraudulent institutions are operating in the name of education. She added that tampering with students’ futures is unacceptable and demanded a full investigation into the matter, with strict action against those responsible and safeguards for affected students.
