Cooch Behar, 24th July: Students of Bhetaguri Lal Bahadur Shastri Vidyapith (H.S.) in Cooch Behar staged a sit-in protest, blocking the Dinhata State Highway, to demand the re-opening of their school.
Despite the conclusion of the panchayat polls, the central forces continue to occupy the school premises, resulting in its closure. Despite complaints against the seven-day school shutdown, the authorities have not taken action to re-open the school. This prolonged closure is causing concerns among the students, as they fear their academic curriculum will suffer if the school remains closed.
The students are particularly worried about the upcoming exams for secondary and higher secondary levels, as the closure is causing significant disruptions to their studies. In response to these difficulties, the students organized a road blockade on Monday, raising their voices to urge the prompt reopening of the school.
