Jalpaiguri, 11th September: School Education Minister Dipak Barman has ordered strict action against students accused of assaulting the headmaster of Jalpaiguri District School, directing that they be issued transfer certificates (TCs).
According to reports, the minister instructed the District Inspector (DI) of Schools to identify the students involved in the incident and hand them their TCs by Saturday.
The incident reportedly began over special food arranged on Teachers’ Day. An argument between the headmaster and students allegedly escalated, eventually leading to a physical altercation. Several students were reportedly injured in the incident, while the headmaster also sustained a head injury after allegedly being assaulted by a section of the students.
On Friday, School Education Minister Dipak Barman visited Jalpaiguri District School and held a meeting with the school’s managing committee. He later entered a Class VII classroom and taught the students. After leaving the classroom, he also spoke with the parents of students who were allegedly involved in the assault on the headmaster.
The minister also held a meeting with headmasters of several schools, in the presence of school inspectors. During the meeting, he directed officials to identify the students accused of being involved in the incident and issue them TCs.
However, keeping the students’ future in mind, permission has been granted for them to continue their studies by securing admission to other schools.
