Statues of two freedom fighters to be unveiled tomorrow in Siliguri

Siliguri, 22nd January: The statues of freedom fighters Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Major Durga Malla is scheduled to be officially unveiled at Veer Jawan Chowk in Gurung Basti, tomorrow at 4 pm. The event has been organized under the aegis of the Siliguri’s Bhanu Bhakta Samiti.


Addressing the media, the organization’s General Secretary Krishna Lama informed that all preparations for the unveiling programme have been completed. He urged all associations and the people of the city to be present on the occasion to celebrate the unveiling as well as the 123rd birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Lama further said that the State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also been approached for the unveiling, while other senior officials including Minister Goutam Deb, Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) Board of Administrators Anit Thapa, Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) President Binay Tamang and former Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Gopal Lama have been invited to grace their presence in the event.
