State EC issues guidelines for conducting municipality polls amid COVID-19 pandemic

Siliguri, 03rd January: The State Election Commission has issued some guidelines for different political parties and candidates keeping rising COVID cases in mind.


The guidelines are as follows:

All candidates/election agent/polling agent/ counting agent/driver etc, whoever is coming in contact with the public or election officials may be allowed to perform their respective functions on the production of a Final Certificate of COVID-19 Vaccination preferably or at least a Provisional Certificate for Vaccination generated after receiving 1st dose of COVID-19 Vaccine pr a negative COVID-19 test report.


No roadshow or padayatra will be permitted.

No cycle/ bike/vehicle rally will be permitted.

Max 5 people including the candidate, excluding security personnel, are allowed to house-house campaigning.

Max 500 people allowed in party meetings conducted in an open space.

Max 200 persons/50% seating capacity of the hall allowed in party meeting conducted in a conference hall

No rallies, public meetings, street plays, etc shall be allowed on any day during the campaign period between 8 pm to 9 am.
