State accepts demands of Siliguri Taxi Drivers Association

Siliguri, 10th February: The taxi drivers’ association had discontinued all services in support of various demands. They claimed to faced extreme losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic and asked for tax exemption and an increase in fares.


Following this, Tourism minister Goutam Deb held a press conference today at the Mainak Tourist Lodge and stated that the drivers can pay the tax and insurance in two instalments. The tax submission period has also been extended till June.

The decision of the state government was welcomed by the Tourism Association and Taxi Drivers Association. On the other hand, NTDN appreciated Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Minister Goutam Deb for the initiative taken.
