Special initiative taken to restore Siliguri Town Station on World Tourism Day

Siliguri, 27th September: Siliguri Town Station is one of the oldest stations in the city. Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Mother Teresa, and many others have visited this station. But over time, the station is currently lying in a deplorable condition. Attempts are being made to bring back the lost glory of the station on World Tourism Day.

Members of the Association of Conservation and Tourism urged the citizens to come forward and take initiative to restore the station. On Monday, an event was held at Siliguri Town Station on World Tourism Day. Exhibitions, painting, and other cultural events were organized today in the presence of SMC administrator Goutam Deb.

In this context, Goutam Deb said that the condition of the station is dilapidated for many years. Such a situation has arisen due to no maintenance.

On the other hand, Association of Conservation and Tourism member Raj Basu said, “Many freedom fighters have come to Siliguri Town Station. At the time, toy trains used to depart from here. However, the station is lying in a dilapidated condition at the moment. An event was held today to bring this station back to a place for tourism and glory.”
