Siliguri, 21st December: A social worker has come forward to support a cancer patient in Siliguri, offering hope to the distressed family.
According to sources, Deepa Roy Barman has been battling cancer for a long time. Her husband works as a driver, and the family has already exhausted most of their savings on medical treatment. With limited resources left, a few local youths had earlier arranged for Deepa to be taken to Mumbai for treatment. However, due to the lack of proper medical care there, the family returned disappointed and uncertain about the future.
After learning about the family’s condition, social worker Shubho Das stepped in to help.
On Sunday, members of his organisation, Youth Foundation, visited the family’s rented residence in the Bhakti Nagar area. During the visit, they provided essential food items along with financial assistance.
Shubho Das also assured the family that arrangements would be made to take Deepa Roy Barman to AIIMS, Delhi, for advanced treatment. He said that all expenses related to travel, accommodation, food, and medical care would be borne entirely by the organisation.
The family of Deepa Roy Barman expressed happiness and renewed hope following the support and assurance extended by the Youth Foundation.
