Rajganj, 11th June: The sacred ‘Snan Yatra’ of Lord Jagannath was observed with great religious fervour in Ambari under Rajganj Block on Wednesday. The event was organised by the Chanda Bari (family) and the Ambari Rath Yatra Committee, both of whom have been upholding the age-old tradition with devotion and discipline.
The Chanda Bari, which has been conducting the Rath Yatra for generations, marked the beginning of the 78th year of their annual celebration with this ‘Snan Yatra’. The main Rath Yatra will be held on June 27, and preparations began with today’s ritualistic bathing of the deities.
Alongside them, the Ambari Rath Yatra Committee also performed the Snan Yatra with full traditional observance. Devotees, especially women from across the region, took active part in the event, bathing the idols of Lord Jagannath, Subhadra, and Balaram in a spiritual and festive atmosphere.
Animesh Chanda, representing the Chanda Bari, stated that this year’s Snan Yatra was conducted strictly in accordance with all rituals and added that beginning their 78th year is a matter of great pride. He further mentioned that with today’s event, the groundwork for the upcoming Rath Yatra has officially commenced.
