Phansidewa, 18th October: A cannabis smuggling plot was thwarted in Phansidewa, where two men were arrested with 25 kg of cannabis hidden in a secret compartment of a four-wheeler.
The arrested accused, identified as Kunal Kumar Yadav and Satan Roy, both from Patna in Bihar, were apprehended during a search operation by the Bidhannagar Investigation Center at the Muraliganj Check Post.
According to reports, the smugglers had created a hidden chamber in front of the vehicle’s engine to transport the cannabis from Guwahati to Patna. The cannabis, with an estimated market value running into lakhs of rupees, was seized during the search.
The two arrested individuals were presented before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Friday. Police have launched further investigations into the entire incident.
