Smugglers arrested with 18 cows along the Bengal-Bihar Border in Kharibari

Kharibari, 29th May: In a significant operation, the Kharibari police arrested two individuals involved in cattle smuggling along the Bengal-Bihar border in the Chakkarmari area. The accused identified as Hira Yadav (21) from Tinsukia in Assam and Ziauddin (41) from Ghazipur in Bihar were arrested during a routine border check.


According to reports, the duo was intercepted while transporting 18 cows in a lorry on Tuesday night. The vehicle was stopped for inspection in the Chakkarmari area. Upon failing to produce valid documentation pertaining to the cattle, both the driver and his companion were taken into custody. Preliminary investigation indicates that the cattle were being transported from Bihar to Bangladesh via Assam.

Following their arrest, the duo was presented before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Wednesday. At present, the entire incident is undergoing a detailed investigation.
