SMC to remain closed for three days, sanitation work likely to commence soon

Siliguri, 17th June: After Ashok Bhattacharya, the presiding Chairman of the Board of Administrators at SMC, tested positive for COVID-19, the Commissioner of Siliguri Municipal Corporation Sonam Wangdi Bhutia announced that SMC will remain closed for the next three days. However, emergency services will be allowed to operate.


Commissioner Bhutia stated that such an initiative has been taken to carry out sanitation work for 3 days.

On the other hand, a list is being prepared regarding the officials and employees of SMC who had come in contact with Bhattacharya in the last 7 days.


“According to the list, everyone will be asked to stay at home quarantine for the next few days,” Bhutia added.
