Siliguri, June 26: The Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) has embarked on several initiatives to combat the spread of dengue in the city. In a bid to raise awareness about the disease, six e-rickshaws equipped with sound systems have been deployed throughout the city.
With the monsoon season posing a heightened risk of dengue, the SMC is determined to prevent the virus from spreading. Emphasizing public awareness and cleanliness, the corporation is prioritizing measures to tackle the disease.
To ensure public knowledge about dengue, Mayor Goutam Deb has launched a series of awareness campaigns. Today, six e-rickshaws equipped with sound systems were introduced to the city to spread information about dengue. Additionally, 40 waste segregation vans and desilting machines, amounting to a significant investment, have been put into operation. The event saw Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb, Deputy Mayor of SMC, Mayor-Council Manik Dey, Municipal Commissioner Sonam Wangdi Bhutia, and other dignitaries come together to inaugurate the initiatives.
Mayor Goutam Deb expressed confidence in the various preventive measures, including publicity campaigns, to combat dengue and looks forward to overcoming the disease this time.
