SMC initiates action against unauthorized construction in Ward No. 30 following complaints in CM portal

Siliguri, 25th November: In recent developments, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) demolished unauthorized construction, after complaining on the CM portal, in Gopal More adjoining area of Deshbandhu Para under SMC’s Ward No. 30.


According to reports, a neighbor of Mitali Pal, a resident of the said area, had complained about the illegal construction and septic tank issues of the house on Didi (CM) Ke Bolo Portal. In the complaint, the neighbor alleged that Mitali Pal had indulged in unauthorized construction. In addition, the waste from the septic tank of her toilet was allegedly flowing through the drains. This resulted in a foul smell spreading in the area. Based on the complaint, SMC initiated action and demolished the unauthorizedly constructed part of Mithali’s residence.

Meanwhile, Mithali Pal claimed that she had constructed the boundary wall in view of security concerns. She added that she was about to break the wall by herself following complaints from the neighbour, and had urged for a time limit of 15 days from the Municipal Corporation. She alleged that she was not given the time sought.


In this regard, Brijit Aich, the Assistant Engineer of the SMC stated that an individual from the Gopal More area of Deshbandhu Para of Ward No. 30 of the Corporation had filed a complaint at the Chief Minister’s portal and the Siliguri Municipal Corporation regarding unauthorized construction. He added that following the investigations, the illegally constructed part of the house has been demolished.
