Siliguri, 21st October: A pillar of the Balason Bridge at Matigara has been affected due to heavy rainfall. Taking into consideration the safety of the citizens, the movement of traffic over the bridge has been temporarily suspended. Only two-wheelers and pedestrians are being allowed to cross the bridge.
Officials of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, on Thursday, inspected the condition of various bridges in the SMC area. Following this, Goutam Deb, administrator of SMC board, held a meeting with officials of various departments.
After the meeting, Deb said that as soon as the water recedes, the condition of all the bridges will be checked and necessary steps will be taken.
