Siliguri, 19th June: A distressing incident has surfaced where the daughter of Nikhil Sahni, a board member of the Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA), was subjected to domestic violence. The incident has led to the arrest of her husband, Dilip Prasad, and father-in-law, Shiv Bachan Prasad, residents of Pokai Jote under the jurisdiction of Pradhan Nagar police station.
Pooja Sahni, daughter of Nikhil Sahni, serves as a board member in the SJDA and formerly held the position of TMC councilor for ward number 18. Reportedly, Pooja Sahni has faced severe physical and mental abuse allegedly by her husband and father-in-law.
It is to be noted that Pooja Sahni was married to Dilip Prasad five years ago and has a child. However, during the course of the marriage, Pooja Sahni was subjected to physical abuse imposed by her in-laws. The situation escalated to an extent where Pooja resorted to filing a formal complaint at the Pradhan Nagar police station on Tuesday.
As a result, the local law enforcement conducted an investigation into the matter. Subsequently, Dilip Prasad and Shiv Vachan Prasad were arrested based on the complaint and produced before the Siliguri Court earlier on Wednesday. At present, the entire incident is undergoing further investigation.
