Six bookies arrested for betting on IPL match in Jaipur, two are residents of Siliguri

Jaipur Commissionerate’s Special Team CST and Vishwakarma Police Station jointly busted a gang of bookies who placed bets worth lakhs of rupees on matches in the ongoing Indian Premier League.


The police arrested 6 bookies including two residents of Siliguri from Mauk. The police also seized 74 thousand rupees in cash, 58 mobiles, 3 ALED, 4 laptops, wi-fi router and 8 diaries from the accused which contained accounts of over Rs 15 crore.

The accused have been identified as Ramesh Pareek (40) resident of Milanpally in Siliguri, Sujal Kumar Das (36) of Ghogomali in Siliguri, Firoz Ansari (27) from Banarhat and Kolkata resident Pramod Vaid (52). The other two accused Mukesh Malpani (36) is a resident of Jaipur and Mohit Kumar (28) is a resident of Haryana.


Jaipur Police Commissioner Anand Srivastava informed that they received information that the bookies were running a betting operation at a farmhouse in Vishwakarma area. Following this, the police formed a team and raided the farmhouse where the accused were caught red-handed while making bets on matches being played on October 29.

Apart from the aforementioned seized items, fake press cards and police identity cards of Anti Corruption Foundation and Kolkata Police Club have also been recovered from the accused.
