Rajganj, 17th November: INTTUC state president Ritabrata Banerjee on Monday met the bereaved family in Ambari following the recovery of Bhuban Chandra Roy’s hanging body amid rising SIR-related panic. He was accompanied by Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy, INTTUC district president Tapan Dey, block president Arindam Banerjee, Sheikh Umar Farooq and others.
The body of Bhuban Chandra Roy from Kamarvita was found hanging a short distance from his home last Wednesday. According to the family, although enumeration forms arrived for all members, his daughter Shibani Roy’s name was missing, causing him severe anxiety. They claim he took the extreme step due to the omission of his daughter’s name.
During the visit, Ritabrata Banerjee consoled the grieving family and enquired into the entire situation. Speaking to the media, he said, “People are being driven to suicide out of fear caused by SIR. As instructed by Abhishek Banerjee, we are visiting families across the state.”
