Siliguri’s Seth Srilal Market Vyavasayi Samiti raises awareness regarding single-use plastic ban

Siliguri, 06th July: The government of India banned the usage of single-use plastic on July 01. In view of this, under the initiative of Siliguri Municipal Corporation and Seth Srilal Market Vyavasayi Samiti, an awareness program appealing to avoid plastic usage in the market was conducted on Wednesday through miking. During this, leaflets were distributed and single-use plastics were also seized from various shops. 
On this occasion, SMC Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, Borough No. 02 Chairman Alam Khan, Seth Srilal Market Secretary Khokon Bhattacharya, and other market members were present.
Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar stated that all the shops have been urged to avoid single-use plastic. If any vendor is caught violating the guidelines, their trading license will get cancelled and a Rs 500 fine will be imposed on the vendor and the customer as well.
