Siliguri’s Iskcon Mandir cancels Rath Yatra due to COVID-19 pandemic

Siliguri, 15th June: The public relations officer of Iskcon Mandir, Namkrishna Das, informed that this year, Rath Yatra will not be celebrated in Siliguri keeping in mind the prevailing COVID-19 situation. However, the rituals will be held inside the temple maintaining social distance and following all government protocols.


Scheduled to be observed on June 23, the Rath Yatra will not be celebrated this year and arrangements have been made to keep the chariot inside the temple.

Namkrishna Das stated that this year, the Rath Yatra celebration in Iskon Mandir will enter its 30th year. However, due to the pandemic, devotees will not be allowed to enter the temple premises. Only the temple members will perform the puja wearing masks and gloves. He further stated that such a decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of the citizens.
