Siliguri, 05th December: A tragic road accident late Thursday night at Fulbari’s Battalion More claimed the life of a 25-year-old youth from Bharat Nagar area under Ward No. 24 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation. The deceased has been identified as Sayan Mitra, who was employed at a private bank.
According to local sources, the accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway at the Fulbari’s Battalion More. As no one was present at the spot at the time of the incident, the exact cause of the accident is still unclear.
Locals said that Sayan Mitra was found lying in a critical condition after the accident and died on the spot. His untimely death has cast a pall of grief over the entire Bharat Nagar area.
Upon receiving the information, New Jalpaiguri (NJP) police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for postmortem. Police have started an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
