Siliguri, 07th September: In a historic judgment, the court sentenced Mohammad Abbas to death for the brutal rape and murder of a minor girl in Matigara, Siliguri.
The crime, which occurred on August 21, 2023, shocked the community, and Abbas was swiftly arrested by the Matigara police the same night.
Subsequently, the trial began in January, during which 22 witnesses testified against Abbas. On Wednesday, the judge declared Abbas guilty of the crime, setting Friday as the date to announce his sentence.
However, the sentencing was delayed until Saturday, when the judge officially handed down the death sentence to Mohammad Abbas.
