Siliguri, 15th October: Pradhan Nagar Police have arrested an accountant at a sports store in Siliguri in connection with an alleged online financial embezzlement case involving ₹1,22,700.
According to reports, Parimal Sarkar, the owner of the sports store located on Hill Cart Road, lodged a complaint at Pradhan Nagar Police Station. In his complaint, he alleged that Rohit Biswas had been working as an accountant at the store for the past nine months.
The store owner reportedly discovered irregularities in transactions involving his online bank account, allegedly carried out without his knowledge. He claimed that ₹1,22,700 had been transferred through online transactions without his authorisation.
Sarkar also suspects that there may have been further irregularities in other transactions beyond those identified so far.
Following the complaint, Pradhan Nagar Police launched an investigation and subsequently arrested the accountant, Rohit Biswas, based on their findings.
The accused was produced before the Siliguri court on Thursday, where police sought his remand for further questioning. The investigation into the matter is underway.
